Santa Barbara, California boasts some of the nicest beaches, scenic coastline, surfing and now we find, vocal talent in North America. YES Vocal talent… Teens compete in a series of talent competitions for the glory to be crowned the Teen Star.
Teen Star USA began in Santa Barbara where Executive Producer, Joe Lambert envisioned a showplace of young talent could contend to win scholarships, PR opportunities, recording sessions and the prestigious title of Teen Star. “The purpose of the annual events”, says Lambert, “goes deeper than promoting individual talent. Funds raised through sponsorships, attendance and supporting events are returned to the Performing Arts programs of benefiting local schools to help equip them to raise up talented young performers. Teen Star provides a platform and venue where teens flourish and showcase their talents in a healthy, supportive, environment of family, friends and the community.”
The Process begins with Auditions
Each contestant sings a cappella (roughly 16-32 bars of music) in a closed session in front of the audition judges following a brief interview. The judges provide feedback to help the contestants grow in their experience and prepare them for future auditions.
The Finalists Advance
Each of the final contestants performs a song of their choice in the first round. Voting by text message, the audience selects their top choices and the celebrity judges choose theirs; the votes are combined for a second round. After the 2nd round, text voting occurs again by the audience and the winner is determined.
2013 Finals will be presented on March 23rd at the historic Granada Theatre, Santa Barbara, CA: To purchase tickets click the following link: Granada Theatre.
